sprayed hempcrete new build
2020 Oxfordshire
natural materials consultant | hempcrete contractor
The walls of this house will be 500mm of hempcrete.
As the walls are so thick I will be spraying them in two goes. The external 300mm first then, once its dry, the internal 200mm. Otherwise it would have taken too long to dry.
I used hessian temporary shuttering which worked extremely well and has given me some ideas of pillowed walls for future projects.
labour and machine only £180/cubic metre.

The house will have a green roof and appear as though almost underground.

This is the internal side of the wall, there will be another 200mm of hempcrete applied so I didn't need to be neat and hessian shuttering worked perfectly.

This is what it looked like when I removed the hessian.

Once I had taken the hessian off I put another 50-100mm of hempcrete on the inside to cover the studs which ensures the hempcrete is supported.

There will be a 50mm cavity then a brick and flint masonry cladding in lime mortar.

The wall ties are for the brick and flint masonry cladding.
