hempcrete contractor | lime plaster and render contractor

This beautiful structure was first insulated using polystyrene foam, rubber seals, render mesh and cement render as per the local councils recommendations.

Water got into the panels and became trapped between the foam and the timber structure causing decay to the structure and damp patches on the wall.

The products that were recommended to the client were completely inappropriate and not at all vapour permeable.

Luckily the client could see the problems these un-natural materials were causing to the building and her own health. She discovered hempcrete and the rest is history.

The timbers had to be seen internally and externally due to the listing, they were very thin so only allowed for 100mm of hempcrete plus a very thin lime render and a thin plaster.
