light earth blocks

I made these light earth blocks out of curiosity and used them to insulate my office.

I had their thermal conductivity tested and it came back as 0.0397 W/mK which is similar to cork and sheep’s wool.

I was quite astounded.

I made them by dipping straw into clay slip (made from 1 volume of powdered clay to 1 volume of water). Once soaked I then formed it into blocks using a slip mold. Then I left them to dry.

I would like to try shuttering the material like hempcrete.
