bespoke clay plaster with straw fleck

I was asked to create a natural plaster from local materials for a local forest school.

The clay and straw for this project came from 6 miles away from the forest school.

There is a single coat of plaster laid onto plasterboard in two passes. The straw provides the tensile strength to resist cracking, the fine hemp shiv provides the aggregate and the clay is the binder, there is no sand!

The shiny finish is earthborn clear glaze which I applied once the plaster was dry to add a little extra toughness against bumps and scrapes.
