new build hempcrete house

2012 / 2013 London

main contractor

There was a lot of clever detailing in this build which was mostly the work of the client.

The roof structure and plywood deck was exposed internally so we had to be really neat with our carpentry.

Plywood gussets (or triangles) where uses to join the studs to the wall plate which stiffens the frame and reduces the need for diagonal bracing, therefore a racking board was not required.

The foundation and plinth was all from waterproof concrete which meant we could fix into the slab anywhere without worrying about going through a damp proof membrane.
